The paintings at the 1894 Royal Academy exhibition were a rather different kettle of fish - as this engraving of Sir Frederick Leighton's 'The Spirit of the Summit' from the Illustrated London News shows. More engravings from the 1894 exhibition can currently be seen here. Probably not my favourite style of art....
